OneStart Woes and Senior Schedule

And registration sucks.

for all of you readers who do not attend IU bloomington, let me share some background on this. we had this program called INsite that ruled. You can get all advising information (what classes you need to graduate etc), basic (unofficial) transcripts, GPA calculator, look at your schedule, see courses available for the current and future semesters and of course the all amazing regweb. Where (as name would pseudo-imply) you register for classes on the web. This VERY simple program was great! you got to search for your classes, get descriptions, see times, see if they conflicted when you put them in the program, had a nice "week at a glance" feature. But...IU decided (in its infinite wisdom) to do away with this. We now have OneStart. Which blows. The schedule of classes is lacking to say the least. It's a much better idea to go to the registrar's page and work with their schedule of classes. Of course that means going to another page entirely for course descriptions. Since this is a wonderful, brand new systerm, there are bugs. Half the time the system isn't working! And what is IU's response? Go to another computer. Preferably one on campus that isn't firewalled. Excuse me? You bastards. And I freaking live on campus and it still doesn't work!! ARGH

So i go to try and resister for these classes and all i really CAN say is that i'm sure as hell glad that i'm going to be a senior (eep) and my classes are all still open! If i want to waitlist a class, i have to check it at the beginning...before i know if it's full or not? what the hell. So without further bitching, here is my schedule for first semester next year. My phonetics class is supposed to count for my last natural & mathematics course. Of course it won't show that (even on INsite) and i have no idea why. My advisor told me that it is in the COAS bulliten as being an N&M class, so i should be ok. But we'll see won't we? :- ok, here's the glory of my schedule:

Monday
11:15-12:20 / FINA A458 (Ethnographic Art: Film Studies in Art)
2:30-3:45 / CMCL C306 (Writing Media Criticism, Film Criticism)

Tuesday
9:30-10:45 / ENG L346 (20th Century British Fiction)
11:15-12:20 / FINA A341 (19th Century European Art)
4:00-5:15 / SPHS S111 (Phonetics of American Speech)
7:00-10:00 / CMCL C306 (Film Viewing for Film Criticism)

Wednesday
11:15-12:20 / FINA A458 (Ethnographic Art: Film Studies in Art)
2:30-3:45 / CMCL C306 (Writing Media Criticism, Film Criticism)

Thursday
9:30-10:45 / ENG L346 (20th Century British Fiction)
11:15-12:20 / FINA A341 (19th Century European Art)
4:00-5:15 / SPHS S111 (Phonetics of American Speech)

so there we have it. now i just have to figure out how work is going to figure in to all of this. but it's only 15 credit hours, so it shouldn't be awful. And only one english class! Figured i'd get the art history minor out of the way first semester so second semester i can focus on english a little more. After this semseter, i need 15 hours to graduate. And i just need 2 english classes. With at least one credit hour (of the 6...?) at the 300-400 level. I'd say i'm covered. Now i just have to find 3 classes (9 hours) of electives! ;)
